Stop Calling The iPad Weak – It’s Just Different.

Hello and how the hell are you? If this is your first time here, thanks for stopping by. In this blog, we are going to talk about why the iPad has a bad wrap for power computing. Why do people dismiss the iPad as not being powerful enough to do real computing? Can you use the iPad for doing real computing? Is there a way to figure out how to use the iPad for most general computing?

We are a little over a month away from the release of iPadOS 26. There are so many reviews online about how good it’s going to be. No, I have not updated my iPad to that newer OS. I am waiting on the public release to start my adventure on using this new way of computing on an iPad. The iPad started out limited as being a computer. You see, Steve Jobs wanted the iPad to be a companion device, a support device, nothing more, nothing less. It was designed to not replace a computer; it was designed to be something you just surfed the web or read a book.

So that means the iPad is not supposed to replace your computer. That was until Apple started giving it features that would allow you to perform more and more computing tasks. Most of the reviewers out there claim that the iPad is not good enough to replace your computer. They always just look at it as a regular computer, and that is where they fail in their reviews. The iPad is a computer by definition, and that means the only reason that it cannot do computing tasks is because Apple does not want you to use it that way.

The iPad is a computer. It has the key components to be classified as a computer, so that makes it a computer. The way that you use it has to be what the industry calls a work-around. I actually don’t see it as a work-around at all. It is actually a different way of computing altogether. The touch interface is the start. Your finger is your mouse, so you don’t need a mouse at all. The actions that you would do for a mouse are all still there. They just don’t appear like they do on a computer. Instead of getting a drop-down menu, you just get a menu bar to complete the action you want. You see how that is different yet the same? It’s just different.

When it comes to the Files app, the basic way that it is set up is totally different than what you get with a Mac. The only reason that it is different is because it is set up to try and be a simpler way of using the app. There is nothing wrong with the app at all in my opinion. Yes, you cannot do certain things, but that is due to the fact that they again involved the touch aspect into how it works. Plus, you have the lack of screen real-estate to give you the same options.

Apple is different when you use it because they put in the touch interface at the top of how to interact with it. So if you do not embrace the touch interface, then you will not have a good experience. You see all those people who do reviews of the iPad who are not truly into using the iPad. Really, they are giving bad advice for the simple way of computing. The real issue is that most people just want a simple way of using something that is the same as what they are used to.

The biggest way that the iPad is not a powerful computing device is because the user base wants it to be just like a regular computer. This is where the iPad loses its appeal to the people who review the device. I am not in that boat due to the fact that I love the way you interact with the device. To me, the iPad is actually an extension of my finger and how I interact with it. I don’t use a mouse at all, and that is because I have embraced the touch interface of the computing experience. I have studied how to use the iPad to the fullest extent, and just playing around, searching through the menu that pops up when you long-press, allows me to see what actions you can do. This act of playing and seeing just what the iPad can do really allows me to access the power of the iPad.

Finding the right apps that unleash the power is a helpful way of working on the computer. I have found that the app devs just see the iPad as a tool that is not as powerful as a regular computer, and they treat it as such. The people who are creating the power apps are actually letting us down because they are actually pushing the narrative that the iPad is not a real computer. They keep trying to develop apps that only give you eighty percent of the ability that you get on the PC computer.

They just want you to buy both apps so that way they can make money for both platforms. Now, that is just me talking out my butt, haha. I am not sure why they are not making the apps just as powerful. It just seems odd to me due to the fact that the modern iPads have the same chipsets that are in the MacBooks and other Macs out there. There is no reason that the iPad cannot perform all the same tasks as their counterparts.

When it comes to just using the iPad as your main computer, there is nothing stopping you from doing so. The only reason that you are not using it as your main computer is due to the lack of wanting to actually learn how to use your device. To me, my iPad has become my main computer, and I am able to perform all the same tasks as I did on my laptop. When it comes to using the iPad as your main computer, it comes down to digging into the menus and apps on how to perform tasks. Just play around with how the iPad actually works, and you will totally be able to use your iPad as your main device.

I cannot wait to upgrade my iPad Air M3 to the newer OS to give me that balance that I have been wanting in my computing ways. The one thing that I am going to be worried about is that over the last year, I have been used to computing on it. The reason for that is due to the fact that I have built my workflow on this iPad to the point that I am able to just get things done. I think that I will just have to take my own advice and just dig around and play with the newer way of computing.

To finish this off, we need to look at the iPad as a tool, nothing more, nothing less. When working with tools, we have different workflows for using each one of them. The iPad is a tool that has a different way of working with it. The one thing that most people see the iPad as is a larger iPhone, and at the same time, the iPhone is praised for how powerful it is, and the iPad is then shit on. I am at a loss for the way people are seeing the iPad. The iPad is a computer and just as powerful as a MacBook, and the newer iPadOS 26 is going to prove my point. Once we all see that the iPad is a computer, I feel that the app developers will rethink how to make the apps better for us iPad users.
