Hello and how the hell are you? If this is your first time here thanks for stopping by. In this blog we are going to talk about the best Every Day Camera (EDC) that you can buy for under $500 dollars. This also includes a lens so you are totally going to get your moneys worth on this blog. The main reason that you would want a everyday camera is to always have one with you to ensure that you get the shots that you are after. I have been looking for this type of camera for a very long time.

I tested out the Canon 6D for the last year and well it is not the most flashy of cameras but it gets the job done. I have used it from shooting sports, portraits, and even street photography. I have used it on paid gigs and just for fun while out and about. This little guy and I mean for a DSLR it is little. The size of it is around the same as a more modern Mirrorless body. The weight of it when paired with the right lens is perfect for walking around and shooting.
The economics of the camera are perfect if you have medium to large hands. It is like Canon was making this camera to fit perfectly in my hands. I have rather large hands and it just feels so good holding the camera. I love the size and weight of this camera so much. When you are shooting all day even with a long lens it feels like you have not been carrying a big beast of a camera. I just love the way the buttons are laid out with just enough space to ensure that you are hitting them with ease.

If you have ever shot a Canon camera then you will be right at home with the button layout and the menus. Everything has a place and they placed it all just right for you. I was coming from a Canon 5D3 and it was huge compared to this little beast of a camera. The image quality is some of the best that I have ever shoot with. On paper the dynamic range on this thing sucks but in real world usage the only times that I struggle with the shadows is in low light shooting. The noise levels for this are perfectly balanced when shooting at higher ISO’s.

The grain in this at the higher ISO’s feels like you are shooting with an older film camera. Which brings me the best part about this camera and if you shop around you can find one with a low shutter count at a good price. I am talking that if you have $300 bucks then you can get one of these bad boys. The only issue that I have with this camera is the low light AF on it sucks so bad but the rest makes up for it. I love shooting on the cheap and this body still packs a punch 12 years after it was first brought to market.

The last thing that will totally bring this kit to life is the lens. I paired it with a sharpe lens that was made back in 1995 I think. This means that the colors that you are going to get from it are a tad bit warmer and the shadows are going to be a little darker in my opinion. The Canon 24-85 f3.5-4.5 is an older kit lens that was shipped with the film cameras back in the day. The AF on it is slow but good. The low light focusing on it struggles but when you hit focus you totally hit it. The range is the perfect walk around shooter if ever there was one.

The ability to have such a great lens is awesome but when you add a Blackmist diffusion gives you that highlight bloom that makes your images look like they were shot on film. These three things really brought the camera and lens combo to a new level for me. I am in love with shooting again to the point that my Canon 1DX stays at the house because I just love the images that i am getting with the 6D. When it comes to just shooting in auto iso and AV mode the camera produces images that look like they were shot with a film camera. I am so happy that I got this setup over a year ago and truly tested it over this last year. The only thing that would be better is a Canon 5D classic but that is for another time. Enjoy from St Johns AZ y’all

Oh and all the images in this blog were shot with the Canon 6D and the Canon 24-85 with the blackmist filter.
